Although beautiful in form and function, this dresser did have quite a few knicks and scrapes and was in need of a lighter, brighter color for this kitchen and the over all design scheme.
I painted this dresser with MMS Ironstone, using the bonding agent since the surface was slick and I only wanted light distressing on the piece. Two coats of MMS Clear Wax were applied and hand-buffed, giving it a silky touch and an old-world glow. Cut glass drawer pulls were added for a bit of sparkle. Thank you kindly for ignoring the trash can in the background… Owner was beginning to move in.
A close-up for you of this beauty. The top of this piece was replaced with a rustic honey-stained piece of wood that imitated the color and feel of the owner’s kitchen cabinets, tying the piece into the overall look of the kitchen.
I love these little keyholes in the drawer fronts, and how the distressing sets them up to be the star of the show!
